Keynote · The Phoenix LeaderRising without burning out is a skill, not a temperament.
Twelve to fifteen minutes. Nicki tells the story that built The Action Imperative — what it cost her to keep a second version of herself for work, and what changed when she stopped paying for it.

Your audience has heard the resilience talk.
They have been told to lean in, to own the room, to bring their whole selves. They applauded. They went back to their desks, and by Thursday the room was behaving exactly as it had before. Nothing in that talk was wrong. It simply was not about them.
This one is not advice. It is an account — twenty-five years inside a defense-sector organization, told by someone who is still in it and still visibly herself. What the audience decides to do with it is their business. What they cannot do is decide it does not apply to them.
For conference programmers, summit organizers, ERG leads and anyone building a leadership day for a room that is tired of being inspired.
The shape of itWhat it is.
Twelve to fifteen minutes
Written to the slot, and it holds to it.
Her story, not a case study
The events are hers. So is the cost, and she is specific about it.
One idea, carried the whole way
That rising and burning out are not the same transaction — and that the second one is optional more often than the room believes.

Travel is additional where it is required, and costed separately so you can see it.
Starts with a 20-minute call
So the talk lands on the theme of your day rather than beside it.
What the room takes out of itOne story. Three things they keep.
01
THE PATTERN
NamingNothing in the room announces itself.
It accumulates — one small adjustment at a time, until the adjustments start to feel like personality. The first thing the talk does is put a name on something most of the audience has been carrying without one.
02
THE COST
AccountingMost of what it costs is optional.
Not all of it. She is precise about which parts are structural and which are habits people have been paying for voluntarily for years. That distinction is the part they write down.
03
THE RETURN
AuthorityAuthority without conformity.
What it looks like to stay inside the system, keep delivering, and stop maintaining a second version of yourself in order to do it. This is not a leaving story. She is still there.

Clip 20 seconds · Full film about 12 minutesFrom senior colleaguesPeople who have been in the room with her.
A natural ability to bring people together, listen with intent, and make everyone feel like their voice matters no matter their position or background.
Sean Love · Defense & Health
The unique ability to combine incredible intellect, expansive organizational experiences, and a humbling people-focused empathy.
Marcus Chavarria · Defense
She is a champion of change and builder of culture.

Who is speakingThe story is not a metaphor.
Twenty-five years in corporate leadership, currently a Vice President at a defense-sector government contractor. Enterprise functions inside multi-billion-dollar organizations. Contracts teams built from nothing. An award cycle cut from four weeks to two days.
She is not telling your audience what it is like in there. She is telling them what it was, what she stopped doing, and where she is standing now — which is still inside it.

QuestionsBefore you book.
How long is the talk?
Twelve to fifteen minutes as written. Longer formats are a conversation rather than a package — ask on the call.
Will she travel to us?
Yes. She is based in the Washington DC metro area and works nationally. Travel is additional and costed separately so you can see it.
What does she need from the venue?
A microphone and a clear sightline to the back of the room. Beyond that, the run time and the theme of the day — the talk is fitted to your program rather than dropped into it.
What does it cost?
Priced per engagement, because a regional summit and a national conference are not the same booking. You will have a figure in writing after the call.
Is this the same as the team workshop?
No. The keynote is the story. The Phoenix Leader Method is the work, and it needs a room and at least two hours.
Can we record it?
Usually yes, agreed in advance so everyone knows where the footage is going.
EventsWhere to hear Nicki next.
Rising Without Burning OutGive the room something it can argue with.
Your audience does not need to be told they are capable. They need someone to itemise what it has been costing them — and then stand there, having stopped paying it.
